Abstract

Dr. Gopi Chand Narang is such a researcher, critic, linguist, and literary theorist related to Urdu whose relationship with pen and paper has been sustained for previous seventy years. Civilization, linguistics, stylistics, and critical theory has been his special field however, the sign of indigenous epistemology and ancient Indian philosophy can be felt across the lines in his dozens of writings. The most important and interesting characteristic of Dr. Gopi Chand Narang's criticism is Pluralism and Multiplicity of meaning. The Pluralism reflects the aspects of his personality and writings of being secular and humanitarian while multiplicity of meaning delineates his concept of meaning which is against the monoism and limitation in content interpretation. In this article Dr. Gopi Chand Narang's criticism has been studied in such a way that it becomes evident how he finds out multiplicity of meaning in his analysis of literary texts.
