Abstract

Urdu literature has a rich tradition of short story. Renowned and great short story writers are part of it. Liaqat Ali is a new valuable addition to this tradition. He belongs to that school of thought who believes literature is criticism of society. Sadat Hassan Manto and his realistic approach towards life and miserable people inspires him so he usually portrays layman, highlighting his social, economic and psychological problems. In this article I have tried to illustrate the characteristics of his short stories.
