Abstract

Qayyum Nazer is a major poet of Urdu Nazm. He set new standard in Urdu Nazm. This research work analyzes the whole evolutionary process of Qayyum Nazer’s poetry. In the beginning he wrote traditional ghazal and poems,following his senior contemporaries. But after a few years he discovered his own style. His style is product of his own creative vision. Qayyum is a poet of variety. He is a significant poet, drama writer and critic.
Qayyum’s Ghazal deals with all aspects of life including an expression, universal sorrows and problems of modern age. He has great command over language. His Ghazal is simple and reflects profound sense of social facts.
Qayyum Nazar’s poetry simultaneously deals with the social realities. That’s why at times his poetry reflects the human emotions. At other times they portrait the psychological conflict of a man residing in the modern age. Qayyum Nazer’s protagonists are aware of their crisis. In this article, it has been tried to analyze Qayyum Nazar’s poetry as a modern poem writer.
